In Charles Mix County, there is one high school senior who stands out both in the classroom and on the volleyball court.
Faith Tyler is a 4.0 GPA student who has a lot of titles to her name and a very bright future. This week, we take you to Wagner High School for our Scholar of the Week.
When Faith Tyler thinks about her last year in high school, teachers come to mind. She says they go out of their way to help their students.
"Teachers are really supportive and they come in all the time if you need help. They help you through anything.. no matter what if it's a small thing or a big project. They're always there for you," Wagner Senior Faith Tyler said.
Faith is active in volleyball, basketball, track, student council, FCA and two college credit courses.
"It's a lot of time management, between sports, school and family," Tyler said.
She does it well and enjoys it.
"I work better under pressure. When I'm more stressed, I work better and harder."
That effort shows.
"Faith is a student who not only work s hard but she is also genuine. That really shines through for her. She excels not only in the classroom, but on the court," Wagner High School Teacher Vanessa Iverson said.
Vanessa Iverson is one of Faith's favorite teachers. Faith is one student Vanessa won't soon forget.
"Her presence, hard work, genuine attitude is looked up to by everyone at this school and in the community," Iverson said.
And speaking of community, Faith is proud to be part of Wagner High School.
"With such a small school, they overlook it a lot. Our education programs here are amazing. We have some of the best teachers I'd say," Faith said.
Faith plans to attend Dakota Wesleyan University next year to play volleyball and major in Psychology. She's excited to explore a career as a psychologist or physical therapist.
For being named our Scholar of the Week, Faith receives a $100 scholarship from Charles Mix Electric Association which is a local Touchstone Energy Cooperative.
