Our KSFY Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week is Lucas Breske, a senior at Waubay High School.
Lucas is captain of the football team, he plays basketball, runs track and belongs to a church youth group while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. He's a member of the National Honor Society and he volunteers all over the community.
Breske is pretty grateful to have been nominated and selected as a Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week.
"It feels great that teachers nominated me. I worked hard enough in school, got recognized and got this scholarship," Waubay Senior Lucas Breske said.
Breske says working hard in school is not something he takes lightly.
"I want to end up with a good life and the best way to do that is through school, good grades, scholarship and the career you want to be in to do what you love," Breske said.
That's one of the many qualities his teachers admire, especially his government teacher and assistant basketball coach Joel Eisenbraun.
"Lucas has always been good at working hard for a greater goal. That's a good thing for all students and kids. He wants to go to college and pursue his career there. I think that's great," Waubay teacher Joel Eisenbraun said.
Speaking of college, the Waubay senior has already made his plans for next year.
"Hoping to attend SDSU and majoring in Animal Science... maybe a nutrition field for Animal Science," Breske said.
In the meantime, he's happy to keep doing what he's doing and serving as a role model for younger classmates.
He shared with KSFY some of his advice.
"Just keep striving to be the best, get good grades, be a good leader in and out of the classroom and set a good example for everyone," Breske said.
For being named a KSFY Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week, Lucas receives a $100 scholarship from Lake Region Electric Association which is a local Touchstone Energy cooperative.
