Scholar of the Week: Olivia Christensen

Olivia Christensen is this week's Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week. She's a senior at Lake Preston High School.

Olivia is involved with just about everything from advanced-level courses, choir, band, cheerleading, volleyball, basketball, oral interpretation, show choir and more.

She does it all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA.

"I've always enjoyed school so doing well wasn't something I felt like I needed to do. It was something I did. I don't mind coming here everyday," Lake Preston Senior Olivia Christensen said.

Of everything she's involved with and the courses she takes, English is her favorite.

"I've always been a reader. In 4th grade, I would always go and read at least two books a night," Christensen said. "There's something about being able to express your words on paper that I find really cool."

Olivia's teacher Krista O'Dea admires her patience and says Olivia is just a pleasure to have in class.

"I don't have to hope for kids to want to be like Olivia because the just do. They see how patient, how kind, how genuine she is. How well she's done based on having that attitude," English Teacher Kristi O'Dea said.

Olivia stays on top of it all by staying organized at school and at home.

"Even my room, there's a place for everything and everything has its place and it doesn't change from that," Olivia said.

She explains she's not quite sure what her plan is for next year.

I don't want to single myself off to one quite yet. I'm still checking out schools, looking into different majors. There are so many things I could do and I want to do and I want to make sure it's the perfect fit for me," she said.

For being named our Scholar of the Week, Olivia receives a $100 scholarship from Kingsbury Electric Cooperative which is a local Touchstone Energy Cooperative.
