SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY) - Sioux Empire United way has reached its fundraising goal for the 24th year in a row.
The organization has raised more than $10 million to fund programs in 2019.
A luncheon was held Tuesday to thank all of the volunteers who donated their time.
The Sioux Empire region ranked second nationwide for per capita giving, and United Way said that would not be possible without all of the generous donors.
"There's such a local need, you know 1 in 3 individuals are helped by United Way-funded agencies, and so it's important to give local and support those people right here in our community," campaign director Olivia Essig said. "That's what makes Sioux Falls such a great place to live."
The money will be used to support 86 different programs within 39 different agencies.
