Sioux Falls City Council votes 5-3 to approve new city audit manager

Sioux Falls City Council members voted 5-3 tonight to approve a new Audit Manager for the city.

Shana Nelson is the candidate for the job.

The department protects the citizens from fraud and mismanagement of funds. But some councilors believe Nelson would have a conflict of interest.

Her husband, Matt Nelson, is the city's parking manager and she already works in the Finance Department for the city.

This weekend Councilor Theresa Stehly sent a robocall to residents of Sioux Falls letting them know that she feels this process is being 'ramrodded'.

Other city councilors say Stehly 'intended to provoke anger and distrust within our community.'
