SiouxFalls.Business Report: October 2, 2018

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (SIOUXFALLS.BUSINESS) - Jodi Schwan with SiouxFalls.Business stopped by the KSFY Studio to discuss the latest business news:

SiouxFalls.Business is excited to give readers a look at the newest downtown redevelopment project – East Bank Depot.

It is located on East 8th Street and will transform the old Howe office building into a mixed-use project with retail on the first floor and two lofts above it.

It is a very modern-looking building that has lots of possibilities for shopping and dining with room for up to six businesses. The plan is to start construction this spring.

It is in the area of the Downtown Railyard Development, where SiouxFalls.Business also anticipates additional projects starting next year.

The west side is taking off with commercial development as a long-awaited road project pushes on.

Businesses are starting to open along Ellis Road even though the project itself is behind schedule. Lewis Drug opened its store there recently to be ready for holiday shoppers. You'll find it's similar to the one that opened recently near 37th Street and Minnesota Avenue.

Sanford Health has a new medical center attached to it and while construction of the building is done, they're waiting for the roadwork on Ellis to be finished before opening. That is looking like it might not be until next month, so opening day at Sanford is scheduled for Dec. 3.

Other changes to the area include a new Casey's General store and plans for a new 23-acre commercial development at 41st Street and Ellis Road.
