Siouxland Libraries offering learning tablets for kids to check out

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY) - Siouxland Libraries has purchased learning tablets that are available for checkout in 14 locations for children ages 3-5.

Library staff hope the new tool will improve kids' ability to read at an earlier age.

"If you sit side-by-side with them and makes connections with that they are seeing and talk about what they are interacting with, that is going to increase their learning experience," Jenna Neugebauer, head of the Early Learning Program, said.

According to staff, 32 percent of Sioux Falls children are unprepared for kindergarten -- a number they hope programs like this will change.

The new tool will make a positive, interactive learning experience that children can bring home.

The tablets can be reserved and brought home for up to three weeks -- carrying no late fees.
