A proposed wind farm in Deuel County has cleared another hurdle.
The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission has voted to approve a permit, with conditions, for the construction of the Deuel Harvest Wind Farm.
The proposed project would include up to 112 wind turbines and generate up to 310 megawatts of energy, according to a press release from the PUC.
During the application process, PUC staff and Deuel Harvest proposed more than 40 permit conditions that addressed issues including road conditions during construction, habitats of threatened or endangered species, and land restoration.
Deuel Harvest expects to complete the $400 million, 48,730-acre project in 2020.
