Sioux Falls, SD (KSFY) This weekend 126 members of the South Dakota Air National Guard are back home with their families after 10 months overseas.
"It's rough to be a half a world away," Senior Master Sargeant Shawn Greer said.
On Sunday South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard, Senator John Thune and Representative Kristi Noem helped honor the members of the 114th Fighter Wing and their families in a welcome home ceremony at Joe Foss field in Sioux Falls.
The airmen and women say they're proud of the work they did during their deployment, but they're very happy to be back home in South Dakota.
“It felt a little longer, especially with the heat, but it’s great to be back, see friends and family again and ready to get back to things,” U.S. Air Force Staff Sargent Brendan Muchow said.
The deployed members of the 114th Fighter Wing served in several locations overseas, including Southeast Asia; several returned in October after a six month deployment. Sunday was a celebration of the entire team finally making it home.
