SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY) - Students at the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Academy tapped into their future careers Monday morning with help from a special visitor.
As part of National Education week, State Senator Deb Soholt from Sioux Falls met with students interested in health care careers.
Sen. Soholt said the experience has been an exciting one personally because in addition to being a state senator, she is a registered nurse.
"I just saw an entire classroom that was completely and totally engaged," she said. "I think that's a win for public education because that's what we want to see. Kids, when they are learning new things, they are completely and totally present to that experience. I think the Career and Technical Education platform really offers something new and interesting for our students, so it's really exciting to see."
Sen. Soholt said she would like to invest more resources into workforce development and connecting kids with careers early.
