(KSFY) - A new report says South Dakotans face one of the lowest tax burdens in the nation.
South Dakota ranked as the 7th least-burdened state when it comes to taxes, according to the WalletHub study.
Researchers looked at a number of factors to determine each state's tax burden, including property taxes, income tax, and sales taxes.
South Dakota ranked 44th overall in the study, meaning only six other states had a lower tax burden. The state had one of the higher sales tax burdens, but was among the lowest in income tax rates.
New York had the highest tax burden, while Alaska had the lowest. Minnesota ranked 5th in the study, Iowa came in 14th, while North Dakota was 22nd.
