WATERTOWN, S.D. (KSFY) - Corporal Lance Hochstatter with the Watertown Police Department said three men were arrested on New Year's Eve after assaulting someone on the north side of the city. He said one of the suspects pulled out a pocket knife that was about five inches in size and sliced the victim's hand with it. The victim was not taken to the hospital.
Corporal Hochstatter said the police department received a report of a stabbing at about 7:00 PM Sunday in the 100 block of North Broadway Street. There were three friends and the victim, who just met them, hanging out and drinking. An altercation broke out over the victim's property.
A couple of punches were thrown and one suspect took out the pocket knife and sliced the victim's hand. He was not taken to the hospital and was okay.
The three friends were arrested on aggravated assault charge and are each being held on a $5,000 cash only bond. Todd Lyons, who is 38 years old, Ornorfio Lyons, who is 55 years old, and Rodney Crawford, who is 50 years old, are all residents of Watertown and were arrested for aggravated assault.
In a press release, police said illegal drugs appeared to be a factor in the incident.
