Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week: Hailey Fergen

It's time for our first Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week for the new school year. We begin with Hailey Fergen, a senior at Menno High School .

Right now, Hailey has a perfect 4.0 grade point average.
She's involved in the Student Council, the National Honor Society and the Future Farmers of America.

Hailey Fergen is one of those students that has varying educational interests; but if she had to boil it down she says there is one of her classes that she likes more than the others. "My favorite class so far is probably Anatomy because we do a lot of different labs and it is very Interactive."

Hailey is busy academically. She is enrolled in several dual credit courses; meaning in addition to earning credits to graduate from high school she is also earning credits that can be transferred to college. She already knows where she wants to go and what she wants to do. "After high school I plan to attend Augustana University in Sioux Falls to major in Nursing."

And if she does in college what she has done in high school she will no doubt be a success.
Cameron Kerkhove is the principal at Menno. "In the classroom she is a great student. Everything is done on time. She does her work."

With a love of studying Anatomy and a plan that includes becoming a nurse, Hailey says she will follow through on what has become a bit of a tradition in her family. "My mom and my Grandma were both nurses and so it has kind of inspired me to be a nurse and to help others."

For being named out Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week, Hailey receives a $100 scholarship from Southeastern Electric Cooperative, which is a local Touchstone Energy cooperative.
