WEBSTER, S.D. (KSFY) - Our Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week is Jamie Bludorn, a senior at Webster Area High School with a 2.74 GPA.
Jamie has been involved in band and choir and is planning on joining the golf team this spring. He is pretty humble about his success in school over the years.
"I would call myself like a minor leader in computer classes," he said. "I'm pretty good with computers, so I tend to help out the other kids a lot."
But he does credit that success to all of the strong role models in his life over the years.
"Both of my history teachers, and then outside of school my dad is a very good role model, and then both of my grandparents," he said.
"Jamie is an exceptionally hard worker, gives his all in every thing he does," teacher David Mallory said.
Mallory has seen first hand the impact Jaime has on other people.
He says those extra curriculars have given Jamie something special.
"It helps give him confidence in his ability to lead. and the other kids in class and things like that," Mallory said.
"Golf takes a lot of patience, a lot of concentration," Jamie said. "You have to like plan out your shots. It's important because it helps me invest in my future."
Jamie isn't quite sure what direction he wants to go in quite yet...
"I'm hoping to go into either computers or zoology," he said.
...but his teachers say whatever he does, he will succeed just as much as he does now.
"He could be a major executive in a computer internet firm somewhere," Mallory said. "He's got a good sense of humor, and like I said, he's a hard-working kid."
For being named a Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week, Jamie receives a $100 scholarship from Lake Region Electric Association, which is a local Touchstone Energy Cooperative.
