UPDATE: Highway 115 is back open after train derailment in Lincoln County

UPDATED 5:10 p.m.

A minor train derailment caused traffic to shutdown for a couple hours.

The derailment happened on highway 115 near Worthing about 12 miles south of Sioux Falls just before noon. Because of the derailment highway 115 was blocked between 281st street and 280th street.

Two grain cars tipped over before they separated from the rest of the train.

No one was injured.


UPDATED 1:39 p.m.

Officials said Highway 115 is back open as of 1:30 p.m.

Lincoln County Sheriff's Office has confirmed a minor train derailment near the Worthing area.

Officials said Highway 115 is blocked between 281st Street and 280th Street. The public is asked to use an alternate route on 472nd Avenue through Worthing to bypass.

Officials are asking the public to not use gravel roads to bypass.

Injuries and damage is unknown at this time.
