UPDATE: University of Michigan says 'no appearance of active threat' after reported active shooter

UPDATE: The University of Michigan Division of Public Safety and Security says there "does not appear to be an active threat to the community" after a reported active shooter.

They say people should continue to stay clear of the the area.

The Washtenaw County Sheriff tweeted "reports of shots fired on campus are unfounded at this time".

In a series of tweets the university says there are unconfirmed reports of an active shooter and says people should stay away from Mason Hall.

Officers are in the area checking on the situation.

The university sent an alert to "run, hide, fight" at Mason Hall on its Ann Arbor campus.
