After a career high game, SDSU's Larson earns Summit League honors

SIOUX FALLS, South Dakota—For the first time in her South Dakota State career, Tagyn Larson was named The Summit League Player of the Week Monday.

The forward averaged 17.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.5 steals and 2.0 blocks while shooting 83.3 percent from the field and a perfect five for five from the 3-point range in two games.

In the Jackrabbits' win at Omaha Feb. 13, Larson set the SDSU record and tied The Summit League mark for field-goal percentage in a game shooting by 11-for-11 from the field, including five-for-five from 3-point range. She also logged nine rebounds and blocked four shots.

The Sioux Falls native tallied eight points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals in the Jackrabbits' win at North Dakota State Feb. 16.

For the season, the forward is averaging 10.3 points, and leads the team in rebounds (6.3) and blocked shots (1.4) per game. Larson is also shooting 53.7 percent from the field, 43.2 percent from long range and 73.4 percent from the charity stripe.

South Dakota State returns to the friendly confines of Frost Arena when it hosts Purdue Fort Wayne in the Think Pink game at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
