BRANDON, S.D. (KSFY) - A familiar name in local racing is in talks to buy Badlands Motor Speedway in Brandon.
According to its website, Steve Rubin, who operated Huset's Speedway for more than 28 years, is in the process of buying back the historic racetrack.
The Rubin family sold the more than 60-year-old speedway to Badlands in 2015.
In addition to a full racing schedule, fans can expect to see concerts and special events.
Huset's will open the season on Memorial Day weekend.
Rubin has requested 30 to 60 days to arrange the financing and investor group. Both parties have agreed that if the fundraising efforts fall through, the facility will be demolished and discontinued.
