SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The United States Tennis Association (USTA) Northern Section has announced its 2019 junior tournament schedule with a number of high-level sectional and national events being awarded to Huether Family Match Pointe.
Headlining the 2019 Match Pointe Tournament Series presented by Sanford Health is the USTA National Level 3 for boys and girls 14 and younger to be held January 26-28. Match Pointe first hosted this tournament in 2018 and was renewed for 2019 with doubled draw sizes to the top-32 players in each age group nationally to register.
“We are honored to be able to host many of the best players in the country. It is truly a privilege to host a tournament of this stature,” said Match Pointe Tennis Director Mark Vellek. “It provides the tennis community an opportunity to enjoy some exceptional tennis and gives our players an opportunity to play a national event without the burden of traveling around the country.”
The most notable addition for Match Pointe in 2019 will be the Match Pointe Jr. Championships, February 15-17, which is a USTA Level 4 event for boys and girls 18 and younger.
Additionally, two Northern Section Level 5 events will be coming to Match Pointe February 1-3 and April 19-21. Rounding out the tournament series will be three Level 6 tournaments April 5-7, September 20-22 and December 6-8.
“What I’m most excited about is we’ve been able to support our mission of making tennis opportunities accessible to all levels of players, all the way from intermediate players just getting in to tournament play, all the way up to some of the highest level sectional and national events,” Vellek said.
