SDSU, USD women earn spots in NCAA tournament

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY) - It's official. South Dakota will have two women's teams playing in the NCAA Basketball tournament.

Both the South Dakota State Jackrabbits and the South Dakota Coyotes learned their fate Monday afternoon.

South Dakota goes into the tournament a No. 8 seed. They will play Clemson in Starkville, Miss. on Friday.

South Dakota State earns the No. 6 seed. They will face No. 11 Quinnipiac Saturday in Syracuse.

Both teams learned where they fell in the bracket hours earlier than expected.

ESPN accidentally released the bracket early, forcing them to move up their selection show to 4:00 p.m. CT. The broadcast started with an apology to the NCAA and to women's basketball fans.
