Sioux City, Iowa) – The championship of the 2019 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Women's Postseason Basketball Tournament, presented by Cypress Risk Management, was played on Tuesday, February 26. Top-seed Concordia defeated three-seed Dakota Wesleyan, 75-63, in Seward, Neb.
Concordia, the top ranked team in the nation, pulled away down the stretch over the fourth-ranked Tigers en route to their third-consecutive GPAC Tournament Championship.
It was Dakota Wesleyan who jumped out to an early six-point lead in tightly contested game. Concordia opened up a 48-39 lead before the Tigers took a 51-50 lead. The Bulldogs outscored the Tigers 20-10 in the final frame.
Concordia was led by Grace Barry with 18 points. Other Bulldogs in double figures included Taylor Cockerill with 13 and Philly Lammers with 10. Dakota Wesleyan was paced by Sarah Carr with 18, Rylie Osthus with 12 and Madison Matthew with 11.
Both teams have secured an automatic berth to the NAIA Women's Division II National Tournament in Sioux City, Iowa, which runs March 6-12 at the Tyson Events Center.
The 2019 NAIA National Tournament Selection Show is scheduled for Wednesday, February 27.
