Information Technology Engineer

FSLA Status: Exempt, full-time

General Purpose of Position:
This position is responsible for maintaining all technology and maintaining all of the building systems. The IT Technician will work closely with the Chief Engineer, as well as the other Department Heads at KSFY. The IT Technician will also work closely with Gray’s information technology department.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Technology: Ensure that station is always on the cutting edge of technology. Take direction from Gray SVP of Technology and VP of Production regarding new technology, and implement with corresponding workflow modifications.

Budget Planning & Administration: Help plan and execute departmental budget; assist in development of Capitol budget; track expenditures in a pro-active manner to control expenses; produce various monthly internal and corporate reports.

Quality Control: Oversees all technology in KSFY. This includes performing all routine maintenance procedures as outlined by the vendors Gray TV works with, overseeing KSFY’s transmitter site and performing all maintenance on KSFY’s transmitter and overseeing and implementing maintenance procedures for KSFY’s properties.

College Degree or equivalent job experience
Significant experience in a broadcast engineering and broadcast IT environment.
Strong knowledge of RF technology.
Significant experience with production automation and on-air playout automation
Ability to perform tasks associated with office duties…
Operating knowledge of PC’s and graphics computers
Excellent organizational filing skills
Good people skills
Valid Driver’s license, and good driving record (will be reviewed)
Preemployment drug screening, and random drug testing.

Physical Requirements:
Able to transport oneself to meetings, and on-location shoots
Sitting or standing for long periods of time
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Able to carry moderately heavy equipment, cameras, tripods, monitors
May be working in extreme weather conditions, heat or cold
Light mechanical skills
Potential exposure to high noise or unusual light levels
Ability to work on lighting fixtures on a ladder

Work schedule will vary due to production demands, or possible permanent schedule changes.
Work assignments will at times include evening, weekends, holidays, and out-of-town assignments.
Regular and reasonable work attendance required. Consistent tardiness will not be tolerated.
