Sioux Falls - New events have been added to Thursday nights in the Summer lineup in Downtown Sioux Falls. The first event is on every third Thursday in June, July and August called Rock Island Block Party. It will feature live music, craft beer and multiple activities including a life size Connect Four game. It is free for anyone to attend. It is in the parking lot south of the Great Outdoor Store and behind the Avera Information Technology Center. The event will run from 4:30 PM until 9:30 PM. Prizes will be given away, which will be courtesy of the Great Outdoor Store and Dakota Beverage. The first musicians who will perform at the first Rock Island Block Party on June 16th are Burlap Wolf King and Jack Klatt Band. At the second Rock Island Block Party on July 21st, it will be during Navy Week so Navy Band Great Lakes "Horizon" will perform as well as Rock Garden Tour. The last event will be on August 18th.
The other new event that has been added to the Summer lineup is called Rooftop Cinema. It will be held at the top of the First Avenue Parking Ramp every fourth Thursday of the month in June, July and August. People will be able to attend the event for free and watch a movie that will start at dusk. The first one is on June 23rd and Caddyshack will be shown. All films are rated R, so Downtown Sioux Falls is encouraging adults to attend. They are separating this from the Moonlight Movies in Fawick Park for the children. Rooftop Cinema will have lawn games, craft beer and food vendors as well. It is free for anyone to attend and parking is free in the First Avenue Parking Structure. Zombieland will be shown on July 28th and The Big Lebowski will be shown on August 25th.
